furnal Equinox 2023: Tales from the tavern

It was AMAZING to be back, to see old faces and to make new friends. A lot has happened since I was last in the dealers den in 2019 and I must admit I was a little nervous about rebranding from Nina Haigh Photography to Nina Haigh Creative wondering if the change would be well received.

In true furry fashion - I was met with open arms and fuzzy hugs and for that I say thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Nina Haigh creative was born to allow myself to create without being stuck in the confines of one craft. Ultimately art is how I am healing and learning to unmask and art is how I want to show others that they can incorporate creative things into their own healing journeys.

I spoke to so many of you who share similar neurospicey traits that I do and it was a passion and joy to share and educate those who came by to chat about the tools I have been using to help myself, coloring, chewlery and fidget toys! It filled my heart that I helped some of you feel seen and feel safe to unmask and to enjoy being yourselves.

I especially loved learning from you all as well…. Hello toe bean fidgets and emotional support whale! I am inspired to host a panel next year for all us neurodiverse folk to have some show and tell fun about the different fidgets and self soothing tools we love and adore!

I love how diverse the people who call Furnal Equinox their community and I want to do my part to help neurodiverse folk and LGBTQIA+ folk feel safe and seen!

Pride is something that I feature often in my art and I am so thrilled that so many of you were happy to see yourselves represented in my pride potion badges! I’m still working hard on this project and I wont stop until I get all the identities represented!

It’s tricky as a vendor but I did manage to get out for a few hours Saturday night to run around in my fur suit Soraya! Hopefully next time I will have more chances to run amuck! I got to visit the dance-floor, gameing room and just walk about a little bit! If ever you see Soraya out and about please do say Hi!

You are seen, you are loved and I can not wait to see you all again next year!
